Henry wasn’t too excited about Recursion but I loved it!!

Happy Friday!

📚Recursion by Blake Crouch📚

What if your memories weren’t your past?

This is but one of the questions that Blake Crouch asks the reader in his newest book.  It is a mind-bending, thrilling read that immerses the reader in a puzzle from the first page.  I’ve waited for this book since reading and falling in love with Dark Matter.  I think I loved Recursion just as much, if not more.  It made me think about the past and my own memories and time itself.  I have moments of nostalgia and some memories are certainly more vivid than others.  What if there was a way to revisit those memories and relive them?  I often wonder if they would be the same as how I remember them now.

Though I would classify this book as sci-fi, it’s much more than that.  Because of the main characters, Barry and Helena.  Blake Crouch knows how to write characters that fit seamlessly into the plot.  I loved Barry and Helena and I will remember them for a long time.  Because they felt so real to me and as I read the book, I felt like I was right there with them.

I am purposely not saying anything about the plot.  It’s best to go into Recursion without knowing much.  I won’t get an opportunity to read this book for the first time again and that is the power of the passage of time.  There are no do-overs.  We can’t change the past. (At least not that I know of!). I used to read a lot of sci-fi when I was younger and I got away from it.  I enjoyed TV shows and movies with many of the themes of Recursion.  As I read, I kept wishing someone would make a TV show based on this book (and not screw it up in the process.)

Have you read Recursion?  Don’t let the sci-fi scare you off.  I also recommend Dark Matter and the Wayward Pines Trilogy. 😊

Have a wonderful weekend! Stop by and tell me what you’re reading this weekend!
