Laura and Jack are moving to Indonesia from NYC.  Jack just got a new job as the president of a bank where he is expected to turn things around.   Laura had a choice:  go with Jack to live in Jakarta and save her marriage or stay in New York.  Laura gives up her job and her life for the move, hoping to make a fresh start with Jack.

This book is a lovely and interesting combination of romance and suspense blended with a journey to Indonesia.  I really enjoyed the setting and the cultural detail.  I felt like I was right there with Laura as she began a new phase in her life.  I loved the descriptions of Bali in the beginning chapters.  Laura and Jack witness a funeral where the cremated ashes of the deceased are put into a coconut and set out to sea.  This moving and beautiful book is filled with so many different facets of life in Indonesia in the 1980s. There are also the elements of financial corruption that took place in Indonesia so this felt a little bit like historical fiction as well.  I would recommend this book for any reader!
